The Tirupur district's United Sunnath Jamath and Tirupur Regional Jammatul Atul Ulama Sabha jointly organised the book launch of 'Varalatril Valbhavargal' in Tirupur, at which the the former MLA and speaker Pala Karuppiah was the chief guest.
Addressing the media, Pala Karuppiah opined, "Islamists have also contributed in the freedom fight for the country. Fostering differences now because of religion and referring to them as a "way of life" will promote unwanted enmity. Indian army's entry into Kashmir is unnecessary. The Indian Government has betrayed the people who have been loyal to India for 70 years. It is great that Kashmir has merged with India and not Pakistan. But according to the present situation, the people of Kashmir feel it was a wrong decision."
He further added, "Section 370 is a provision granted to the border states of India. At present, the Indian Government's action on the Kashmir issue is likely to pose a threat to the other states. The Bill which was passed in the Indian Parliament must be formally passed in the Kashmir Legislature and sent to the President by the Governor. If it does not, the Bill will fail in the Supreme Court."
Pala Karuppiah also slammed the senseless vandalisation of Dr. Ambedkar's statue in Vedaranyam which he termed as horrendous.
